We are seeking candidates for the position of Mechanical Engineer II/III!
Responsibilities:
Supports new product development activities in a Product Development / R&D environment by researching and developing new components/assemblies, methods, and/or processes utilizing engineering principles to meet User and Stakeholder Requirements while adhering to project objectives for quality, cost and delivery.
- Maintain and drive detailed project schedules across multiple disciplines. Manage projects and/or small teams.
- To determine and make recommendations regarding engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, reliability, and manufacturability of new and existing products in consultation with division management, production, and quality assurance staff. Confer with research personnel and/or the customer to clarify or resolve design problems.
- Prepare proposals (including recommended suppliers, parts pricing, alternative implementation strategies, and timeline/schedule) for customer submission. Provide guidance and answer technical questions during the proposal meeting.
- Calculate complex statistical analyses of data for complex processes and draw appropriate conclusions.
- Provide feedback on technical reports prepared by less experienced engineers. Teach and mentor less experienced engineers. Develop procedures and policies.
- Mentors and trains engineers with limited experience.
- Process improvements are recommended and implemented. Improves productivity and efficiency by automating processes.
- Evaluates engineering test results for potential application in the development of systems or other applications. Makes sure the process is capable using statistical analysis.

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2-8 years’ experience in research and development, product development, medical or related field.
- Microsoft Office proficient.
- Creating and presenting presentations and/or technical papers to management within and outside of Canon Virginia.
- Solid Works is a 3D CAD package that requires advanced skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills are required.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
