The Notable Labs is a functional precision medicine company that uses automation, machine learning, and high-throughput flow cytometry to screen fresh primary patient samples for drug sensitivity. Here at Notable, we use this state-of-the-art technology to identify which types of drugs and drug combinations may benefit patients with blood cancers such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
We use our platform to predict the effectiveness of potential therapies for biotech and pharmaceutical companies. To enable pharmaceutical companies to get new therapies to patients faster, we identify the right patient population in order to enhance selection for clinical trials, effective drug combinations, and biomarkers.
Job Description:
- An extremely versatile multidisciplinary scientist with an engineering mindset is needed who is excited to utilize their cross-functional expertise to build scalable platforms and technologies for interrogating biological systems to enable precision medicine
R&D develops new assays and troubleshoots experiments and technology on our platform. It requires a combination of scientific analysis and critical assessment of data, as well as knowledge of code and technology. Through these partnerships, the team interacts with vendors and scientific partners, often extending the capabilities of new technologies.
Researchers within the Research & Development Group develop, scale, and implement high-throughput assays and workflows. In this role, the individual works with a team of scientists and engineers to conceptualize, design, develop, and implement solutions to optimize the performance and efficiency of our existing assays. Also, this individual leads the development and integration of novel high-throughput assays inAnalyzing variance and stability of assays at scaleto Notables Platforms that are used to predict patient response to different therapies across different types of blood cancers.
Among the responsibilities:
- Analyze complex data and make key decisions regarding assays and processes
- Develop and characterize cell-based assays. Among the possible efforts are:
- Incorporating new instruments and experimental techniques into the lab and developing assays for R&D
- Optimal conditions for primary human cell culture
- Characterizing the variance and stability of assays at scale
- Controlling sources of variability by identifying them and developing controlsTesting and identifying areas for process improvement
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts with scientists, software engineers, hardware engineers, and team leaders across the company. It is expected that you will discuss everything from early drug development to the physics behind flow cytometry with these groups.
- Present designs and conclusions to an interdisciplinary audience
- Expertise in developing new biological assays, technologies, and methods (especially cell-based assays)
- Understanding and experience with mammalian or primary cell culture, molecular & cell biology
- PhD or MS in Biological Sciences,
- Bioengineering or a related field with 0+ years (with PhD), 4+ years (with MS) of relevant experience is required.
The Nice to haves
- Knowledge of primary cell culture or cancer co-culture models
- Multicolor flow cytometry (10 colors or more) experience
- Developing high throughput screening assays
- Python/R scripting experience
- Workflow experience with NGS
- A specialization in hematopoiesis, hematological malignancies, or immuno-oncology
- Throughout your career, you have troubleshot experiments and technologies extensively in scientific research.
- You have experience with a wide variety of experimental techniques, and are eager to fast develop expertise in a wide variety of fields.
- Others look to you for interpretations of the most confusing experimental data.
- In terms of experimental design, you have outstanding instincts. Controls are tailored to the goal of the experiment or process by you
