Description:

An operations engineer will be responsible for driving tools, monitoring, and processes to support Apple Media Products' rapid expansion. Work with a passionate team that provides the highest quality videos and media to our customers. Apple's vast service delivery architecture is impacted by the software in this team which drives end-to-end quality of service in real-time. We're looking for a highly motivated individual who can handle problems under tight deadlines and come up with creative solutions. Your responsibilities will include guiding processes to detect, react, and resolve customer issues, building data analytics and real-time dashboards, and working across Apple from customer support to core platforms to create new capabilities.

Summary

Apple's long-held passion for combining art and technology is best illustrated by its Media Products Engineering team. They are responsible for the App Store, Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple Books. It's all done on a massive scale, meeting Apple's high expectations with high performance to provide a wide variety of entertainment to more than 150 countries in more than 35 languages. Secure, end-to-end solutions are built by these engineers. As well as creating custom software for processing creative work, they also develop the toolkits used by the providers to deliver that media, all server-side systems, and APIs for many Apple services. Apple engineers work together on a unified vision because Apple's hardware, software, and services are integrated. An integral part of Apple's vision is to strengthen its privacy policies, which is one of its core values. Even though Apple's services division is larger than ever before, these teams remain small, forward-thinking, and cross-functional, which allows them to explore a wide array of opportunities.

Key Qualifications:

• Provide internet services at scale and experience operating distributed systems
• Excellent communication skills - both verbally and in writing
• Monitor technologies like Splunk, Grafana, Elastic Search, Prometheus, etc.
• Network, learn, and influence multifunctional teams, both business and technical, independently
• The ability to organize, plan, and achieve key goals

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of industry experience

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of Internet core protocols: DNS, TCP/SSL, HTTP, CDN, etc.
• Scripting languages such as bash/shell, Golang, Python, JavaScript, etc.
• Software development using agile methods
• Platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc. for deployment and orchestration.
• Deliverables that are maintainable, understandable, and diagnoseable
• The position requires you to work weekends and on-call shifts as required
