- Implementing installation / removal / upgrade / interface actions for network components at user locations.
- Inventories, installation of racks, equipment, and infrastructure, as well as redline installation documents and completion reports.
- Facilitate and finalize all aspects of site acceptance.
- Isolating faults in a data communications network.
- The activation and deactivation of network components according to established schedules.
- Interacting with users and/or network vendors.
- The coordination of users, site/base support, security offices, facilities personnel, network managers and controllers, as well as long haul and local carriers for site access, installation, cutover, activation, deactivation, planning and execution.
- Assist Associate and Intermediate staff with functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training, and quality assurance / quality control.
- Supporting senior staff and ensuring project milestones and customer requirements are met.
- Data communication fault isolation.
- Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving malfunctions in order to integrate new platforms into the operational network.
- Ensure compliance with DISA contract requirements by supporting the transition of services and products.
- Installation of DISA's IP networks (classified/unclassified), DWDM and SONET networks whether it be hardware or software upgrades/fixes on routers, switches, long haul transport, servers, cryptographic systems and other IT equipment.
- Testing circuits from fractional T1s up to OC-1920s (100G) using a variety of test equipment.
- Troubleshoot and recover systems and files, install operating systems, network systems, and applications, and test head-to-head, running BERT tests across the path, checking framing, line coding, protocols, and IP.
- Troubleshoot and analyze long haul fiber and DWDM circuit outages with OTDR and OSA test equipment.
- Executing detailed and technical site surveys at the user's location to perform critical functions such as evaluating / analyzing site preparedness, developing plans, lists of minor installation parts, and cost estimates.
- Organizing installation, setup, activation, deactivation planning and execution in coordination with users, site/base support staff, and facilities personnel.
- At the user's location, perform installation, removal, upgrade, and interface actions associated with a network component.
- Facilitating and finalizing the site acceptance process.
- Supporting senior staff and ensuring project milestones and customer requirements are met.
- Performing a variety of complicated tasks related to monitoring and controlling computer operating systems.
- Maintaining the configuration and operation of business systems by directing and monitoring daily activities.
- Optimising system operation and resource utilization, and planning and analyzing system capacity.
- Maintaining the following devices / vendors: Cisco, Juniper, Safenet, Ciena, and Sycamore.
- Troubleshooting and running diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.
- During various phases of testing, evaluate and install developed software.
- Reviewing and preparing documentation for systems, tests, and software installations.
- Analyzing and recommending methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Preventive maintenance of the operating systems as well as repairs to system and environment problems.
- Managing multiple projects with varying schedules and systems.
- Travel is required in the performance of duties by air or vehicle throughout Europe. (Travel is limited during COVID.)
- Must have at least 7 years of experience and a High School diploma or equivalent experience/education, as well as additional specialized technical training equivalent to an Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical tasks.
- Experience with one or more of the following: fault management, configuration management, or WAN maintenance.
- Expertise in IP routing, optical networking, cryptography, and network appliances (WAN acceleration, etc.)
- Ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
- I have experience fabricating serial, cat6, coax, fiber, and DC power cables for equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
- Working with major vendors, e.g. Cisco, Sycamore, Ciena, Juniper, Promina.
- Manufacturer certifications for vendor specific equipment (i.e. CISCO, Juniper, etc.)
- DoD 8570.01-M certification
- Must be a U.S. citizen with a current DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance (eligible to obtain TS clearance).
- All base privileges

- DoDDS Schools or International Schools for dependents
- Occasionally, the person in this position must move around the office in order to access file cabinets, office machines, etc.
- Utilizes a computer and other office productivity machines, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer, constantly.
- Maintains computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet.
- Transports Audio/Visual or Computer equipment weighing up to 70 pounds across a business campus or large facility
