Managerially accountable to: Team Leader

Professionally accountable to: Head of Clinical Technology

Key Relationships:

Medical, Scientific, Technical, Administrative Directorate Clinical/Management Teams and other staff groups engaged in the practice and support of healthcare, within the National Health Service and elsewhere, Head of Clinical Technology. A comprehensive medical equipment management and maintenance service is provided by the department of Clinical Technology to the University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM) and other healthcare organizations. At the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, multidisciplinary teams including renal, general medical, imaging, critical care, and medical gases support services across the organisations and to other local healthcare providers.

We are seeking two permanent qualified Specialist Medical Engineers to provide support and technical services across UHNM.
This is a wonderful opportunity to be involved with a rapidly expanding service that provides essential technical support to clinical teams while ensuring the best value for UHNM's high investment in medical equipment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of complex medical devices
  • Have ongoing training relevant to their field.
  • Exercise considerable independence and self-initiative
  • Aware of Data/FSN/MHRA adverse event reporting alerts
Desirable criteria
  • Policies and procedures of the NHS and local governments
  • Knowing how to measure clinically
  • Human physiology knowledge
Personal Qualities

Essential criteria
  • Dedicated to team performance and delivering high standards of customer service
  • Professionalism and a can-do attitude focused on customers and staff
  • Full UK Manual Driving License
Desirable criteria
  • Keen to embrace new concepts and learn new skills
Education and qualifications:

Essential criteria
  • Degree, HNC or equivalent in an appropriate engineering subject.
  • Demonstrate at least 3 years specialist knowledge and experience of medical device management to diploma level or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • On the Clinical Technologist Voluntary Register
Experience:

Essential criteria
  • Extensive practical experience in an applied electronics service environment.
  • Information Technology experience of proprietary systems pertaining to role as well as MS Office and an Asset Management system
