DNV's Civil Engineering department is growing rapidly. We are a team of highly skilled civil, structural, and geotechnical engineers engaged in analysis, design review, construction observation, and analysis of flooding and erosion control failures of solar, wind, and battery storage energy systems.
To complement our world-class team, DNV is seeking a civil engineer to review civil infrastructure, stormwater management practices, layout, and road design. An engineer in this position will be exposed to the broadest range of wind, solar, and storage projects of any renewable energy company.

The position will be based in Portland, OR; San Diego, CA; Oakland, CA; Austin, TX; Katy, TX; Seattle, WA; or Medford, MA
The task may include
- Examine design drawings and calculations for solar and wind energy civil infrastructure, layouts, and road design to support project financing.
- Examine stormwater management practices against U.S. and/or Canadian regulations for utility-scale solar and wind projects
- Evaluation of pre-market design concepts for solar and wind energy projects.
- Review root cause analyses for solar and wind energy projects affected by flooding and erosion.
- Observation and documentation of wind and solar energy projects on site and virtually.
Qualifications for the position
The requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Experience with design, construction and/or failure analysis of civil infrastructure for renewable energy projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Autodesk design tools, as well as other civil engineering designing programs.
- Knowledge of hydraulic engineering software (HEC-RAS, WMS, SMS or equivalent)
- Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time
- We conduct pre-employment background checks and drug tests
Skills preferred
- PE stands for Physical Education. P.Eng. or P.T.Eng. Obtain a license.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (hydrology, hydraulics)
- Stormwater certification (California QSP, QSD, or equivalent)
- Design experience in utility-scale solar civil infrastructure.
- Experience in land surveying and mapping.
