Apple is currently seeking enthusiastic ME majors who can start working between September, 2021 and September, 2022. All hardware product lines will be supported by interns in the design, engineering, prototyping, and validation activities.
Key Qualifications:
The following qualifications may be of interest to you:
- Working within a team environment is a must.
- Motivated by one's own efforts.
- Ability to use analytical/problem-solving tools and techniques.
- The ability to analyze mechanical systems using finite element theory.
- Comfortable working in an environment that changes rapidly.
Desired Experience in any of the following:
- Knowledge of consumer electronics (preferably).
- Having an in-depth understanding of component modules (LCDs, batteries, camera modules, etc.) and their interconnections (FPC design, ACF bonding).
- Design of metal and plastic parts.
- Skills in 3D CAD
- Extensive experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, and functional dimensioning.
- Experience with handhelds, portables, and/or hardware.
- Embedding wireless antennas into mechanical enclosures (GPS, GSM, Wi-Fi).
- Audio subsystem design (microphone, speaker, receiver).
- Unigraphics and ProEngineer proficiency.

Some responsibilities in Product Design may include:
As a member of a multi-functional design team at Apple, you will contribute to creating the world's best hardware devices. You will conceive, design, and deliver products that redefine the user experience. You will work with multiple multi-functional teams, including Industrial Design, Packaging, Safety, Hardware Engineering, EMC, and Marketing.
Education & Experience
Working toward a BS, MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or similar degree.
Additional Requirements
Good written and verbal communication. Ability to juggle multiple requests/tests.
