Sony AI is looking for self-driven, motivated individuals with knowledge of mechanical/mechatronic engineering. In order to extend the capabilities of a world-class team of researchers, we are looking for bright people who are passionate about applying AI in support of human creativity. Those successful in this role will contribute to projects that have a heavy mechanical/Mechatronics component. Responsibilities:
- Electromechanical systems: conceptual design
- Robotic hardware design and prototyping
- The design of control frameworks for such systems
- Drawing blueprints, negotiating with manufacturers/vendors
- Test hardware implementation using software
Qualifications and Skills:
- Mechanical engineering or mechatronics background (MSc or PhD)
- Theoretical understanding of mechanics is excellent
- Expertise in designing sophisticated mechanisms (robot manipulators, parts of robot manipulators, etc.)
- Circuit design experience
- Expertise in designing and manufacturing mechanical parts using CAD
- Control algorithms for robots should be well understood
- An understanding of C++/Python control software is a plus
- It is beneficial if you have experience with middleware like ROS
Other Required Knowledge:
- Delivering within tight deadlines and adapting to changing requirements
- Multidisciplinary teamwork ability
- A strong ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing, and a willingness to learn Japanese. Knowledge of the Japanese language is an asset
Preferable Major:
- Mechanical/Mechatronics or related fields.
