- Medical Engineering at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is seeking to recruit new apprentices for a 3 year apprenticeship program.
- You may be a school leaver wanting to pursue a career in science and technology in the health care industry, or you may simply be looking for a change of direction.
- Students are required to have English, math, and science GCSEs (or equivalent) with a grade of 4 or higher.
- Our apprenticeship program will consist of three years of study from a recognized training provider and on-the-job training from our clinical technologists.
- Those who earn a BTEC level 3 qualification can develop a variety of medical equipment knowledge and skills while working with our experienced teams.

- Execute ward-based maintenance visits (supervised by senior colleagues) to complete planned maintenance on low risk medical devices.
- Perform simple repairs and triage on medical equipment seen by the department.
- New medical devices are completely unboxed and accepted.
- Old electronic devices should be disposed of safely and decommissioned.
- Learn general science and engineering topics, including medical equipment modules, at BTEC level 3, some of which will be delivered by distance learning.
