About the Company:

A medical device company we represent is in the process of developing a novel neurostimulation therapy to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnoea in patients who have failed or refused continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.

About the opportunity

A Sleep Scientist or Biomedical Engineer is currently needed for this company based in Australia. In spite of the fact that this position is based at home, frequent travel is required to attend sleep studies across Australia.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role have been broken down into five sections, please see below:

General
  • Performing poly-somnography sleep studies and optimizing treatment settings
  • Interpreting sleep study results and developing treatment strategies
  • Assuring best patient compliance through communication and training

Treatment results

Clinical Projects
  • Developing study ideas is supported.
  • Review or write documents for study projects.
  • Training site and internal staff as required by the project.
Product Development
  • As needed, provide feedback on existing or new products
  • Organize user feedback sessions (physicians, nurses, etc) as needed.
Training/Education
  • Support our internal and external customers with training sessions related to our technology
  • Product demonstrations (lectures).
  • Support physicians in understanding technology and products (e.g., Literature
Field Technical support
  • Troubleshoot and document technical problems in the field.
  • Working with other company functions (e.g. R&D, Regulatory, Quality) to report and analyze
Address product issues
  • Troubleshoot field technical issues.
  • Reporting technical issues and following up
Skills and experience
  • An advanced degree in a scientific or health discipline is preferred
  • English fluency (both written and spoken)
  • Understand and apply medical and business knowledge to clinical trial execution.
  • A proven ability to troubleshoot computer and software issues on the site
  • Conducting sleep studies, in particular polysomnography, and having a deep understanding of sleep medicine are highly desirable
  • Having the ability to work frequent night shifts during polysomnography sleep studies
  • Ability and willingness to travel (30% with the expectation of visiting and supporting interstate clinical research sites as needed).
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and able to manage own schedule
  • Knowledge of GCP/ICH and clinical research
  • Knowledge of computer literacy, multitasking, and communication.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading teams and managing people.
  • Possess initiative and works well independently with minimal supervision.
