Arup Malaysia is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to provide consulting engineering services to its clients.

In order to provide high-quality consulting services, you should develop key knowledge and skills as an engineer. Within your relevant business area, you could undertake relevant modeling, analytical research, and design work. To enable you to achieve the desired level of expertise and knowledge, there will be a structured career plan and development program

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

• Develop high-value strategies for clients across the public and private sectors, including feasibility analyses, impact assessments, and modeling.
• Providing technical input on a wide range of projects.
• Ensure work quality is maintained at the expected level by providing technical input to projects.
• Perform detailed design work on a wide range of civil engineering, transport, planning, and related projects.
• Ensure the work quality is maintained at a high level, while leading the technical / design aspect of such projects.
• Managing projects, relationships, and related activities with new and existing clients.
• A team's technical skills are reviewed, supervised, and developed.
• Contribute to developing the skills within the group through activities including mentoring of less-experienced personnel; researching/developing new technical/design applications and/or procedures; and providing key support to senior personnel in all training-related activities.
• Contribute to preparing and delivering detailed proposals and presentations.
• Provide clients with project reports summarizing key issues and offering strategic advice on best outcomes.
• It is necessary to gather and share technical expertise with other groups in the region and around the world.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and at high quality.
• Identify and develop new opportunities to expand business with existing key clients and (when applicable) other groups within the geography.
• Develop and maintain quality systems within the Malaysia office.
• Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements and other regulations regarding Occupational Health and Safety within the office as well as on all projects.
• Organize, conduct, organize, and/or participate in project activities of the wider organization, geography, and/or the Arup Group.
• As measured by the Balanced Scorecard and the Group Scorecard, support and actively implement the company's vision and strategies.
• Maintaining ISO 9001 compliance for the firm.

About you:

• Relevant Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in civil and structural work.
• Familiar with contract administration and submission procedures;
• Familiarity with British/Malaysian and other international Codes and Practices,
• The knowledge of EuroCode and BIM Standards would be a plus.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams);
• Autodesk (CAD, Civil 3D Bonus: Infrawork, Naviswork)
• Awareness/knowledge of coding and scripting software (e.g. VBA, Python, Dynamo, Grasshopper or similar);
• Awareness/knowledge of digital tools and software (e.g. ArcGIS, OpenRoad, MITS, IPANET, HEC-RAS, Rhinoceros 3D, Bluebeam, ProjectWise, or similar);
• Substantial knowledge of consulting and technical experience in infrastructure, development and related areas.
• Reporting on project analysis and results independently is required.
• Management experience, including supervisory experience of multidisciplinary projects where appropriate.
• In-depth knowledge of how to supervise and develop a less experienced team member.
• Experience working in a consulting engineering environment, including the ability to recommend sustainable, cost-effective solutions to clients.
• Registered as Professional Engineer is an added advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills (including formal and informal presentations, written communications and reports).
• Keen sense of maintaining high standards.
• Keen understanding of “customer” needs (both internal and external), and the issues which may impact on maintaining effectiveness within a commercial environment.
• Ability to relate and work well with people at all levels within the team and within the wider office, as well as externally with clients.
• Ability to maintain personal effectiveness, team and client relationships, both under normal circumstances, and at times of significant pressure.
• Ability to maintain motivation and manage the output of project team members, including the ability to be proactive, but tactful, in ensuring others within the team meet deadlines and other expectations.
• Able to effectively manage workload even when demands are significant.
• Desire to excel.
