The Cost Engineering team is part of the larger Platform team and the Core Infra tribe. Cost Engineering is primarily focused on creating cost awareness among Spotify Engineers as this is a key factor in designing systems with sustainable streaming costs. We are focused on creating innovative solutions to create this awareness without stifling creativity and productivity. We are looking for a full stack engineer who is passionate about building infrastructure tools that provide an excellent user experience. You will be joining a team that builds, maintains and supports our rapidly growing cost insights tool which provides cost awareness and recommendation for cost optimizations!
What you'll do
- Create the best experience for our internal customers and contributors by designing, building, scaling, and evolving our platforms, services, and tooling
- Use your full-stack experience to design intelligent solutions that include front-end and back-end systems
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product designers, and product owners to drive the evolution of our technology
- Take operational responsibility for the components that you develop
- Work in an environment that supports your individual growth by providing you with challenging tasks to solve and the freedom to acquire new skills on hack days, reading groups, lectures and a variety of internal training courses
Who you are:
- You are confident with modern JavaScript/CSS/HTML coding, testing, debugging, and automation techniques and some experience with Type Script, React
- You have experience with backend development in Java or a similar language
- You’re excited about delivering end-to-end experiences and care about your software architecture across the front-end, back-end, and the APIs that glue them together
- You learn quickly and enjoy working closely together with your team
- You are passionate about what you do and have a strong interest in keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise
- You have some familiarity with GCP concepts like GKE, Compute, Big Query, Big Table, DataFlow etc
- You care about delightful user experiences and design
