- This individual will have the opportunity make a substantial contribution to the innovation of product and processes as part of our New Product Development R&D Guidewires Team. You will develop new products using the latest technologies and resources throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to launch and transition to sustaining.
- Design and development of new invasive and noninvasive medical device products as part of the broader R&D Engineering Team, often mentored by a Senior/Principal Level Engineer
- Conceptualizes, investigates, evaluates, and proposes innovative product development and process ideas, including new designs, methodologies, materials, and machines
- Generates and maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development, including design controls deliverables (e.g. test protocols and reports, component drawings/specifications, fixtures/tooling)
- Assists in organizing technical design reviews and presents relevant sub-sections
- The New Product Development R&D Guidewires Team develops state -of-the-art guidewires that measure blood pressure and velocity in coronary and peripheral vasculature. This data supports meaningful clinical decision-making to optimize patient treatments. We partner with cross-functional teams in order to deliver products of superior design and performance, while honoring our strong commitment to our customers, to innovation, and to quality.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Plastics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering preferred) with 1+ year of experience
- Proficient in SolidWorks or ProE; experience with 3D modeling, fixture design, and basic machining
- Experience statistically analyzing data, experience with MiniTab a plus
- Basic working knowledge of design controls and risk management a plus
- Familiarity with cardiology catheterization procedures, tools, and terminology a plus
- Ability to work in a team environment to ensure conducive working relationships. Strong communication skills
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
- Ability to organize and prioritize workflow in order to meet established time frames and schedules.
- Develop intellectual property and support patenting process
- Ability to travel up to 25% (domestic and international locations)
- US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa
- Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position. For this position, you will reside in or within commuting distance to San Diego, California
