JOB SUMMARY

Conducts project related activities for the advancement of the Center for Injury Biomechanics (CIB). Develops best practices around process development and supports engineering and manufacturing initiatives to advance biomechanics technologies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline with two years biomechanics research experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience in an engineering field/industry. Master's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with inertial measurement units
  • Experience conducting human subjects’ research
  • Familiar with computer programming
  • Works well within a team environment
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Highly technical position involving all aspects of biomechanics research related to the core mission of the Wake Forest Center for Injury Biomechanics.
  • Supports junior engineers and students within the CIB on engineering related tasks.
  • Uses computer programming and related software to support extramurally funded research, and to generate pilot data for new research.
  • Support collection and analysis of kinematic and video data for sports, automotive, and other related applications
  • Interfaces with community organizations to facilitate recruitment, enrollment, and data collection for human subjects’ studies
  • Assists in conducting laboratory experiments and data collection including external anthropometry, neurocognitive, and neuromata data.
  • Interfaces with sponsors, colleagues, and collaborators at local, national, and international conferences. Participates in regular project update meetings.
  • Assists writing technical reports and manuscripts.
