Financial Analysts ensure that Google makes sound financial decisions. As a Financial Analyst, your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, is used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. While working on multiple projects at a time, you are focused on the details while finding creative ways to solve big picture challenges. As an Associate Financial Analyst on Google's Device and Services team, you will use data to inform strategic investments and product decisions across the company. You will develop analysis and insights to help business partners understand product performance and the effectiveness of campaigns to provide recommendations to shape their investment decisions. The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.
Responsibilities:
- Drive insights and analysis which support devices and services business and shape business strategy in partnership with sales leadership.
- Lead monthly operational expenditure reporting and partner cross-functionally to understand trends, variance drivers, and inform forecast updates.
- Manage core finance processes (e.g., monthly reporting, profit and loss, financial and strategic planning, performance reporting, campaign reviews).
- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand and surface industry, product, and business related trends.
- Develop tools and data infrastructure to measure the effectiveness of different initiatives for audiences and executives.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in an analytical role within a business finance or commercial function.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with analytics, financial modeling, financial planning, analysis, or project management.
- Knowledge of analytical tools (e.g., structured query language, Python, R, or other coding tools).
- Knowledge of accounting and finance operations.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task and apply initiatives on projects.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
