DESCRIPTION

A mechanical engineer at Amazon Robotics develops innovative system architectures and module designs for our robotic work cell solutions. Ideal candidates have experience designing and analyzing mechanical systems, enjoy analytical problem-solving, and have practical knowledge of manufacturing methods. The position reports directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:

• As part of an interdisciplinary team, develop product designs from concept to production, including specification, design, prototyping, validation, and testing
• To ensure a smooth product launch, working with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality departments as well as vendors
• Developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
• Exhibit role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownership

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Four or more years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related field
• An understanding of SolidWorks or a similar CAD system with an emphasis on advanced assemblies, configuration management, and part design
• Hands on experience crafting simple proof-of-concept models
• Understanding and application of mechanical engineering principles, theories, and concepts
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with others
• Ability to effectively communicate concepts and write technical documents
• Desire and energy to work in a fast-paced agile environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience designing complex mechanical products and equipment
• Documenting designs according to ANSI Y-14.5 with proficiency
• Extensive experience designing and debugging tooled components (cast, injection molds, forges, stamps, etc).
• Proficient with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and Ecosystem Analysis (ECO)
• MS in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience with DFMA software
• Proficiency with SolidWorks Simulation or Annoys Finite Element Analysis tools
