Summary

The Technical Career Field (TCF) is a national workforce development program within VHA that was designed to replenish technical staff in critically identified positions.

IMPORTANT NOTE: 

This announcement is posted in accordance with 38 U.S.C 7412 which waives the requirement to apply Veterans preference to external applicants for appointments made during FY 2022 to the Biomedical Engineer 0858 occupation due to staffing shortages.

Requirements:

Conditions of Employment
  • You must be a United States Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Prior to appointment, urinalysis tests are performed on all candidates tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position. Applicants who refuse to be tested will not be considered for VA employment.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must register for the Selective Service.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
  • A probationary period may be required.
  • A background/security investigation will be conducted.
  • An online onboarding process will be required for selected applicants.
  • Pre-employment physical examination is required.
  • Training-Service Agreement and Mobility Agreement are required.
  • Health Care Personnel (HCP) at the Department of Veterans Affairs are required to participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program.
  • Veterans Health Administration health care personnel (HCP) must participate in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program - see "Additional Information" below for details.
Qualifications:
  • Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
