DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Materials engineers may conduct or supervise tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure their quality.
• Develop and implement laboratory operations to develop material and fabrication procedures that meet cost, product specification, and performance standards.
• Review and recommend material selection based on design objectives.
• Solve problems in a variety of engineering fields.
• Completing, reviewing, and processing tests and reports.
• Geotechnical and quality control recommendations.
• Assuring that the field laboratory is responsible for the technical requirements.
• Assisting in the preparation of inspections, embankments, concrete, and pavement.
• Validating off-site testing and certifications.
• Compliance with specifications requirements for compaction, gradation, mix proportions, strength, etc., in construction of embankments, structures, pavements, and incidental items.
• Developing laboratory and field testing procedures.
• Analyzing the foundation conditions.
• Developing and implementing test frequency and coverage schedules on all contracts, as well as supervising and directing tests.
• Field survey parties must comply with requests for surveys.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with minimum 10 years of relevant experience and qualification in Materials and Control in major highway projects.
• Must possess the ability to read and enforce working drawings and related specifications.
• Computer literacy and excellent communication skills are a must.
