As a Sales Engineer, you will work with technical Sales teams as an enterprise hybrid cloud subject matter expert to differentiate and portray the vision of Google Cloud to our customers. By explaining technical features, helping customers design architectures, engaging in proof-of-concepts, and resolving potential roadblocks, you will help prospective customers and partners better understand Google Cloud.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand customer technical objections, and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
• Providing enterprise infrastructure/cloud modernization expertise to support technical relationships with Google's customers, including product and solution briefings and proof-of-concept work, and working directly with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption of Google Cloud.
• Guide clients through an assessment of their existing legacy application environments, make recommendations on a prioritization roadmap for application modernization, and identify applications for migration to hybrid-cloud computing.
• Conduct prototyping workshops to highlight proposed new architectures, develop best practices, and document key blocking requirements for engineering prioritization.
• As required, travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related Software Engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Cloud computing experience (e.g., infrastructure, storage, platforms, data), cloud market dynamics, and customer buying behavior.
• Expertise in cloud migration, disaster recovery, application/server assessment, and discovery.
• Experience with data center architectures and components.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science or other technical field.
• Knowledge of application development concepts and technologies (e.g. Java, Python, Puppet).
• Knowledge of relational databases, noSQL databases, and/or big data technologies (e.g. SQL Server, Postgres, Spark, Hadoop).
• Extensive experience in advanced networking areas, including Linux, software-defined networking, network virtualization, open protocols, application acceleration and load balancing, DNS, virtual private networks, and their application to PaaS and IaaS technologies.
• Experience designing and developing scalable and secure distributed systems.
• Ability to define cloud technical migration roadmaps based on existing customer software workloads.
