Description:

Among the tasks performed are researching new test/validation technologies/methodologies, designing and evaluating proposed solutions, analyzing the return on investment, collaborating closely with internal/external groups, managing prototype BOMs and builds. Debugging and tuning custom hardware, developing firmware, scripts and applications for the hardware, and juggling multiple priorities (hardware, software, logistics and program management) are also part of the job responsibilities. For factory bring up, some international travel will be required to both Apple and supplier facilities a few times a year.

Summary:

The Hardware Engineer position is responsible for designing, evaluating, qualifying, implementing, and lifetime supporting custom hardware-based test solutions for factory and other cross-functional internal validation/engineering purposes.

Education & Experience:

MS or BS Degree in CSE/EE or equivalent

Key Qualifications:

• In a fast-paced environment, you should thrive at the intersection of HW and SW. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your expertise in electrical design, microcontroller coding, Verilog/VHDL, scripting, and C or C++ coding.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design
• Experience with intermediate C/C++ programming
• Fundamental skills in electrical engineering
• Verilog/VHDL fundamental skills
• Prototyping and bench testing experience
• Experience with any of the following scripting languages: (Shell, Perl, Python, etc.)
• Experience with microcontrollers (e.g. 8051, ARM, etc.)
• An understanding of testing and diagnostics is an asset
• Communication skills are essential
