Agoda's Data department oversees all data-related requirements. The Opportunity:
- Our Data Engineering teams combine business analytics, data warehousing, and software engineering. Our job involves dealing with distributed systems, stream processing, computation, and data governance at scales of tens of petabytes.
- As a software engineering firm, we specialize in data replication, storage, centralized computation, and data API's. We help our company validate strategic decisions, make smarter choices, and adapt to fast-changing worlds by providing data products/tools, shared frameworks, and data services.
- With people from different countries working together on a single goal, our team is small but passionate.
In this role, You’ll get to:
- Build, administer, and scale data pipelines
- You should be comfortable with the following technologies: Scala, Golang, Python3, scripting (Bash/Python), Hadoop, etc.
- Enhance the scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of our current data systems
- Develop, test, and deploy new libraries, frameworks, or full systems for our core systems while maintaining the highest levels of code quality and testing
- Work with experienced engineers and product owners to identify and build tools to automate many large-scale data management / analysis tasks
What You’ll need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering/related field
- It is desirable to have experience debugging and reasoning about production issues
- A good understanding of data architecture principles is preferred
- Any experience with Big Data technologies or tools
- Linux systems administration skills
- Experience with JVM languages (especially Java/Scala)
- Python/Shell scripting skills are a plus
It’s Great if you have:
- Good understanding of Hadoop ecosystems
- Experience working with Open-source products
- Working in an agile environment using test driven methodologies
