Beckman Coulter Diagnostics Field Service Engineers install and maintain diagnostic instrumentation and systems in hospitals and standalone laboratories while providing excellent customer service to clients. As a Field Service Engineer (FSE), you will represent Beckman Coulter to customers and provide them with support, directly impacting the patient's well-being. FSE team members are part of the Service Organization and report to the District Manager. You will be responsible for providing frontline support for customer issues and problems by using your technical expertise and troubleshooting skills. Driving service revenue sales targets whilst ensuring strong customer retention and warranty conversions, utilizing critical thinking to repair instrumentation, training our customers and ensuring quality data and operational performance of our systems. Unlike most FSEs, we work as a team to share standards, mentor, and receive expert technical support. In addition to being based at home, you will also be provided with a company car, iPhone, and laptop. Using your technical expertise, you will travel to support customers, spending nights as necessary. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Complete troubleshooting, installation, validation, preventative maintenance, modifications, and service repair needs on Beckman Coulter equipment under minimal direction.
  • Providing training and assistance to newer Field Engineers.
  • Provide excellent customer service and technical training to Beckman Coulter's customers.
  • Explore all the places where our instruments are used throughout the district. The position will be based in the North Chicago area and serves the Chemistry or Laboratory Instrumentation/Automation groups.
  • Managing customer service logs and internal service records in a timely manner, ordering repair parts, and adhering to cycle times.
The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Associate degree (prefer technical, biomedical, instrumentation, electrical engineering or related) or equivalent military experience.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical, robotic, and/or electronic equipment, in a laboratory, as a Field Service Engineer or Biomedical Engineer.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record for the last three years are required. Beckman Coulter associates will follow the Danaher Company Vehicle Policy.
  • I am willing to work different shifts as needed by the business.
  • Provide service within assigned geography, as well as travel to other areas and overnight travel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. This would be to include tools, replacement parts, consumables etc.
  • Ability to work one of the following shifts: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm or Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • 3 + years’ experience of advanced trouble shooting.
  • Experience collaborating with internal team members and external customers.
