PhonePe is India’s leading digital payments platform with over 280 million registered users. PhonePe allows users to send and receive money, recharge mobile phones, DTH, data cards, pay at stores, make utility payments, buy gold, and invest. PhonePe went live in August 2016 as the first non-banking UPI app, offering money transfers, recharges, and bill payments at first. In 2017, PhonePe entered the financial services market with the launch of digital gold, which allows users to buy 24-karat gold securely on its platform for a safe and convenient price. Responsibilities:
We plan to expand our data science team, and we are looking for senior data scientists who will work on applications related to financial services. They will work in a dynamic environment, and with cross-functional teams to assist those teams in every possible manner to ensure that our products help our users derive most value. They will be expected to work with product, business, & engineering teams to
- Make sure they know what data science can do for them and set the right expectations.
- Analyze large volumes of data, and implement and deploy appropriate solutions,
- Communicate results and recommendations clearly to various stakeholders,
- Analyze the effectiveness of the solutions and improve them continuously.
- PhonePe's data scientists are expected to have a mix of technical skills, business acumen, and empathy with our users. They must also guide and mentor junior data scientists to become better data scientists.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's or higher degree in a quantitative discipline (computer science, statistics, engineering, applied mathematics)
- 6 - 7 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3 - 4 years of relevant work experience with a Master's degree
- Knowledge of source control and deployment tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, etc.) is desirable.
Specific technical skills include:
- Expertise in Java, Python, R, shell scripting languages.
- Experience querying relational and non-relational databases; graph databases.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in big data technologies (Spark, MapReduce, Pig, Hive)
- Experience using machine learning (structured, text, video data) libraries
- (preferably in Python), deep learning (Tensor flow, PyTorch)
- Experience using visualization libraries
