- Develop and deploy highly scalable cloud micro services based on distributed systems using Java/.NET
- Work with SW architects to understand the problem domain and come up with creative solutions.
- Develop backend micro services using AWS and/or Azure cloud components.
- Build systems based on events.
- Ensure adequate coverage of software components by creating unit tests.
- Interact with both business and technical stakeholders to deliver high quality products and services that meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Participate in code and design reviews with agile teams
- Integrate 3rd party software components into existing software applications
- Work with geographically distributed teams while maintaining the highest standards of collaboration and communication.
- Energetic and passionate about being successful and open to different technologies; Be familiar with new technologies, tradeoffs and emerging design patterns in web services;
- Demonstrated prior hands-on experience (7+ years) in setting up highly scalable, distributed backend web implementations using modern API standards including Restful APIs; Experience delivering and owning web scale data systems;
- Previous hands-on development experience (4+ years) using AWS Cloud services such as Lambda, S3, Dynamo DB, and Cloud Formation as well as other Big-Data solutions (Cloud era, Horton works, Data bricks) or equivalent experience using Microsoft Azure.
- Experience designing and developing collection and storage solutions for big data using one or more of the following: MySQL, Mongo DB, Cassandra, Elastic search, Redshift, Object Store, time-series databases, HDFS/Base, etc.
- An understanding of Apache open-source frameworks and Azure big data services or an understanding of related Apache open-source frameworks and services are both pluses.
- A proven history of working with multi-threaded software in a mainstream language (Java, C#)
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming; Solid knowledge of Domain Modeling in relational and no relational databases
- An understanding of professional software engineering practices and best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Monitoring, reporting, iteration, and continuous integration and delivery practices are all part of an automation mindset
- Have experience with developer tools such as git, maven, Eclipse/VS Code or other major IDEs and open source components.
- Agile development experience; ability to work with multi-location teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; Detail oriented, self-motivated and creative; Good time management and organizational skills.
- Work cooperatively to uncover key issues, troubleshoot, and recommend/implement solutions as a team player and problem solver
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Willingness to travel (<10%)
- Database – SQL/NoSQL – experience
- Test driven development practice experience
- Kubernetes experience preferred
- Familiarity with chaos engineering
- Kafka, Kinesis, Spark Streaming or Flink
- Infrastructure as code experience
- Gatling/JMeter
- Containerization
- Functional (serverless) programming experience
