Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Play a critical and substantial role in leading firmware/software architecture development for implementing new requirements/features in the product.
- Play a critical and substantial role in performing detailed breakdown analysis of software/firmware requirements to create firmware/software development paradigm for the team.
- Design, code, and develop software using embedded LINUX, “C,” and “C++”.
- Act as a lead software/firmware engineering architect for new product development projects contributing to organization's organic growth.
- Develop detailed design specifications for embedded software by working with Product Management, Product Engineering, and other cross functional teams.
- Co-ordinate and supervise work outsourced to external consulting firms/design vendors to meet project deadlines.
- This work includes, but not limited to, creating SOW, writing design specifications, creating test plans/procedures, performing deliverable validation etc. Act with necessary engineering judgement to solve complex, non-trivial technical problems.
- Provide necessary technical inputs for firmware specific tasks such as - Driver development for ARM processor, kernel migration (v3. xx to v4. xx), Linux-bring up etc. Support production, service, test, and sales in all phases of product development, including post-engineering support.
Skills and Experience:
- Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Electronic Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience leading firmware engineering architecture.
- In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Electronic Engineering or a related field and at least 3 years of experience leading firmware engineering architecture.
- Must also possess the following: at least 3 years of experience with embedded product development; at least 3 years of experience with “C,” “C++” with industrial products; at least 3 years of experience with embedded LINUX operating system; at least 3 years of experience with revision control and automated build system; at least 3 years of experience with embedded real time operating systems; at least 2 years of experience with layer 2 and layer 3 network switching and routing protocols and at least 2 years of experience with any of the following: Bash Scripting, Cisco Switch and router configuration, D-bus, or Perl Scripting.
