About the Company:
Job Description:
  • Complete design of Electromagnetics within power converters.
  • Transformer design (low and high frequency).
  • Inductor and Reactor design.
  • Experience with and a working knowledge of EMI.
  • Experience with and a working knowledge of Electrical Insulation.
  • Experience with and a working knowledge of thermal management.
  • Support development of advanced power converter projects from concept to the delivery of a fully validated solution that meets specified requirements.
  • Support and act in the role of customer facing technical lead or principal investigator on technology projects within this specific field.
  • Ensure that all designs and practices implement and foster a culture of safety, quality and value.
  • Develop system simulation models and prototypes
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary engineering development team that includes application engineering, power conversion design, controls engineering, mechanical design, control hardware design, and product test / validation
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Develop and perform product validation test plans
  • Work with external consultants and third parties to achieve certification of product designs (UL, CSA, CE, MIL, etc.)
  • Maintain ownership of relevant engineering artifacts associated with specific power converters on projects including drawings, bill of materials, specifications, test and commissioning procedures.
  • Interface with Sourcing and Purchasing to ensure suppliers products are meeting specifications
  • Interface with the Manufacturing and Test departments to ensure the power converters produced are fit for purpose
  • Support sales by reviewing customer requirements and highlighting differences/gaps between those requirements and power converter capabilities
  • Manage design reviews for power converters
  • Collaborate with other GE PC businesses to understand power converter technologies produced at those factories that can be used to satisfy customers in North America
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with an emphasis in magnetic and 4+ Years’ experience in the relevant field. OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university with an emphasis in thermal management and 4+ Years’ experience in the relevant field.
