Job Description Summary

Responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate actual financial reporting and analysis. In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

Job Description
  • Draft/execute accounting entries and prepare financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of investments including consolidated joint ventures between EFS and other internal and external third-party investors
  • Maintain income allocation models for specific investments in accordance with Hypothetical Liquidation at Book Value (HLBV) accounting methodology
  • Participate in the monthly and quarterly close process, including the preparation of complex journal entries, cross business schedules between EFS and other GE Business units and other key financial reporting deliverables
  • Review financial statements prepared by third parties for assigned portfolio of investments for quality and accuracy and non-standard transactions or events
  • Review work performed by third party data providers to improve the quality, timing, and communication of deliverables. Help identify process improvement opportunities and drive results. Coordinate with cross-functional teams as needed
  • Coordinate and execute investment funding and vendor payments while ensuring completeness of executed and approved documents compliant with funding policies and procedures
  • Work with independent auditors to ensure deliverables are met and audits progress timely
  • Respond to adhoc or internal inquiries concerning portfolio of investments
  • Review general ledger account reconciliations for designated accounts to ensure compliance with GE’s Accounting Policy. Perform periodic peer reviews
  • Adhoc projects and lean initiatives
  • Cross-train with other team members
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 3 years of finance and accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in preparation of accounting entries
  • Experience with accounting for transactions denominated in various foreign currencies
  • Experience preparing financial statements and working with auditors on statutory audits
  • Proficient use of financial systems (Oracle GL, Hyperion)
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Desired Characteristics:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification. Financial services industry experience. Public Accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent knowledge or experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Financial services industry experience

  • Ability to lead projects and assignments
  • Ability to analyze issues and recommend appropriate action plans and deliver timely results
