Growing our Enterprise Data Warehouse is central to this strategy – consolidating complex data from our many business applications into easy to understand data models optimised for analytics.
- We are seeking a talented and dynamic person with a passion for data warehousing. As part of our data team, you will be responsible for developing data pipelines and extending the capability of our data warehouses. This is an exciting opportunity, we have a growing estate of services, and an insatiable appetite for data.
- Work with our Business Analysts to understand requirements, perform data discovery and stage source data
- Extend our data warehouse data models to meet new requirements
- Design and develop processes using our ETL tools
- Commit completed work to our shared development environment for review and carry out peer reviews of other developers' work
- Define and execute test cases as part of developer QA.
- Monitor production environment for accuracy and performance.
- Carry out tuning to improve pipeline and query performance.
- Provide clear complexity estimates during sprint planning meetings
- Provide daily progress updates and highlight any blockers during stand-ups.
- Candidate Specification
- It is vital that you can demonstrate experience in, and a passion for, data warehousing and enabling value to be extracted from data.
- University degree or diploma in the field of IT, Mathematics, Engineering or Science, or relevant equivalent work experience.
- Experience in the following areas would be beneficial
- Good knowledge of data warehouse dimensional modelling using Kimball methodology.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server development, including
- ability to query and investigate data and to write views, stored procedures and other objects using T-SQL.
- understanding and creating entity relationship models
- Experience in implementing ETL processes, including extracting, merging, and incrementally loading data using either Azure Data Factory or Pentaho Data Integration
- Able to translate requirements, process flows and design into clear documentation.
- Experience using version control systems.
- Full software development lifecycle experience.
- Experience working with corporate finance processes and data
- Experience of Azure DevOps
- Experience writing and executing test cases.
- Experience working with an agile methodology.
- Proficiency in Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
- Experience working with Business Objects or Power BI
- We will provide training in areas where more experience is required.
