About the Opportunity

This posting is for a position as a Biomedical Engineering Technologist with the Biomedical Engineering Department for Central Zone of the Nova Scotia Health Authority. Initial placement will be with the Biomedical support team based out of the Halifax Infirmary site, though future moves between teams and locations are possible in order to respond to clinical support demands and trends. As a member of the Biomedical team, travel and coverage of the Central Zone may be expected on an occasional basis. Under the supervision of the Manager, Biomedical Engineering, the Biomedical Engineering Technologist provides support for medical technology by repairing, maintaining and calibrating life support and other medical devices as well as maintaining medical computers and networks. The Biomedical Engineering Technologist also assists in the training of physicians, nurses, therapists and other technical staff as well as performing safety performance and routine inspections on electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment and systems.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Successful completion of a two-year course in Electronics Engineering Technology (accredited diploma) required
  • Must be registered or eligible to be registered with Tech Nova as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) within two (2) years of hire
  • Must have working knowledge/training of electronics with the ability to understand the operation and have manual skills required to repair, calibrate, perform safety, performance routine inspections on electronic, electrical, mechanical and optical equipment, devices, systems and instruments
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Registration with the ACI as a Certified Dialysis Technologist (CDTc) or CBET certification is required for achievement of step 5 of the pay scale for this position
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Short assignment, part-time (60%) position; 45 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives
  • $27.09 - $32.53 Hourly
