- As part of the inpatient clinical systems team, use experience to work in collaboration with Epic representatives and the UI Health clinical and business community to ensure the EHR systems meet the organization’s overall clinical and business needs.
- Lead efforts to gather information from clinicians/ staff regarding clinical and operational workflows, as well as, business goals and risks to define new healthcare application requirements.
- Lead efforts to recommend innovative application solutions to clinical workflow, patient safety, productivity, and financial problems. Assist application teams in development of design and required documentation. Analyze business processes and reengineer those processes to improve business and/or clinical needs, identifying the upstream and downstream impacts.
- Lead design of new tools, components, and functionalities within healthcare applications. Implement software modifications and document changes to designs, tools, components, functionalities and processes.
- Plan, review, perform, and test new software releases, ensuring adherence to the testing policies and procedures for application team members. Develop and follow plans to collect information regarding potential system enhancement needs and coordinates preparation of specifications as needed.
- Engage with vendors and maintain vendor relationships. Participate in analysis of vendor solutions and enforce vendor service level agreements (SLA). Contact vendor to resolve issues.
- Identify areas for improvement and serve as key contributor in the development of new/improved policies, procedures, or work practices. Coordinate the input of others.
- Provide application support on a 24/7 basis.
- Participate in mentoring and training staff to ensure successful on-boarding and professional development.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Bachelor degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, related information management field, or a clinical area of study
- Minimum 4 years progressively more responsible IT or clinical experience within the designated discipline: Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, maintaining, and managing healthcare
- information systems (e.g., Epic, PACS, billing, supply chain, utilization review, operating rooms,
- scheduling, diagnostic imaging, pathology, etc) to effectively apply information technology
- solutions to improve healthcare operations; ensure effective integration of clinical and
- revenue cycle systems with other institutional applications.
- Working knowledge of system build/configuration of software applications.
- Certification in one of the following Epic clinical track(s)/application(s) or related
- Epic Care Inpatient Clinical Documentation
- Epic Care Inpatient Orders
- ASAP
- Bugsy Infection Control
- Care Everywhere
- Grand Central
- HOD (Hospital Outpatient Department)
- HIM - Deficiency Tracking, Release of Information
- Identity
- OpTime/Anesthesia
- Stork
- Knowledge of system management principles, application development, and application testing strategies.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills.
- Ability to maintain working relationships with departments, employees, and management at all levels, as well as, outside consultants, vendors, medical groups, and other academic medical centers.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, balance work demands, and lead projects and initiatives.
- Knowledge of healthcare best practices.
- Experience with patient care delivery processes and healthcare operational/billing processes.
- Knowledge of complex integration with other software systems and components.
- Project management skills to coordinate large, multi-dimensional projects.
