Parsons is now hiring an experienced Principal Engineer with a desire to work on infrastructure projects that change the fabric of our communities. Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your engineering knowledge, will propel your career forward with opportunity for advancement with top performance. We need our engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team oriented environment and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills. In this role you will determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. The successful candidate applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline and may serve as a technical consultant in area of specialty for management or the client. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.
Responsibilities:
- Performing the functions of a discipline Project Engineer on medium to large projects, taking responsibility for the work of the entire team.
- Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project that requires a large expenditure of manpower and investment of money.
- Provides technical expertise and leads the Quality Improvement Process to other engineers and designers.
- Analyses and provides technical consultation for interdisciplinary analytical studies.
- Provides the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by law or contract, ensuring compliance with all regulations and codes.
- Prepares material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing sup plier manufacturing capabilities.
- Develops operation and maintenance plans; develops standard operating procedures; prepares O & M manuals and may conduct onsite training of personnel.
- Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations. Performs reliability, availability, maintenance (RAM) and safety analyses.
- Keeps abreast of current technology through affiliation with professional societies.
- Provides budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. Performs other administrative and technical tasks as needed.
- Prepares and recommends technical papers.
- Other duties and responsibilities are assigned as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or a related field) and 12+ years of relevant work experience
- An advanced degree would be preferred
- Registration as a professional engineer may be required
- Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and familiarity with industry practices and regulations are required
- Knowledge of current technology and ability to select and apply appropriate engineering software to projects is required
