Transducers for Intravascular Ultrasound Systems are designed and developed as part of an international cross-functional team. A member of an international cross-functional team, you work closely with hardware engineers, signal processing engineers, system engineers, and software engineers. Your design will be consistent with the higher-level architecture and requirements.
You are responsible for- Developing new disposable device designs and optimizing existing ones. Manufacturing prototypes.
- Transducer technologies, materials, and methods for IVUS transducers are being developed and evaluated.
- Design and develop new processes and tools for fabricating and manufacturing devices.
- Organize and coordinate verification and validation activities, such as writing plans and reports, fabricating devices, and supervising technicians.
- Transforming new designs from research and development into production. Ensure operators are trained and work instructions are written. Assist with the development of preventative maintenance schedules.
- Components, designs, processes, and tools are documented.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, a notebook, and current training records.
- Leading engineering staff and/or engineers.
- Transducer project management
You are part ofA global, cross-functional technical team responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Intravascular Ultrasound products. You are a member of the Ultrasound Engineering team.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent training.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience; a master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience; or equivalent experience.
- A significant amount of experience fabricating ultrasound transducers in the medical field is required.
- It is highly desirable to have experience with IVUS transducers.
- Demonstrated solid experience with Solidworks or other design software.
- Experience designing ultrasound transducers and assembly processes using a variety of piezoelectric materials, including Ceramics-Piezoelectric (PZT), Crystals (PMN-PT), and Crystal composites.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fabrication techniques and processes.
- A practical knowledge of adhesive chemistry, material selection, and processing methods is preferred.
- Understanding of variation statistics (ANOVA), design of experiments (DOE), process validation, and design control.
- Exposure to Project Management Tools in practice. An ideal candidate will demonstrate successful completion of a cradle-to-grave project, including document control requirements for each phase.
- The candidate should be familiar with cardiac and vascular catheterization procedures, tools, and terminology
- You should be familiar with catheter development and the selection of materials and processes.
- Understanding of statistical software: MINITAB, JMP, etc.)
- Work with external material and engineering vendors.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in order to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted during the course of performing assigned duties, including management and outside business associates.
