About The Role
The Agricultural Science Data Analyst reports to the New Development Manager and provides analytical support to the Kiwifruit Vine Decline Syndrome task force. Delegates from Zespri and four leading partners make up the Kiwifruit Vine Decline Syndrome Task Force. A Task Force serves as the lead team to define and ensure execution of specific work addressed to control the syndrome that develops in Kiwifruit. The role is responsible for the collection and monitoring of material on a daily basis and for maintaining Master data. In addition to data enhancement and enrichment, the Agricultural Science Data Analyst is responsible for the credibility and accuracy of all data related to the Kiwifruit Vine Decline Syndrome project.
Accountabilities:
- Analyze, design, optimize, and modify agricultural science databases
- Check, clean, and validate data before uploading it to the database in order to maintain data quality
- Produce, manage, and load monitoring reports for the KVDS taskforce
- Prepare analytical reports for the Kiwifruit industry
- Analyze data using Excel and summarize findings
- Perform one-off analyses as needed. Developing a detailed understanding of Kiwifruit physiology is required for these one-off analyses
- There is an analytics platform available, but more data needs to be collected
- Understanding and integrating other databases already used in the company such as BlueLeaf block maps
- It may also be necessary to assist with other projects from time to time; this may involve activities outside the office
Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary education in informaticscience, engineering or statistics or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in data processing, written reports and communication, interpreting data and creating relevant insights
- Efficient data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience in data mining, finding patterns, correlations and trends to drive business insights.
- Experience in interpreting and presenting data from different platforms, using data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Excel.
- Computer literacy and ability to pick up new systems / processes quickly.
- QGIS knowledge and Power BI would be an advantage
- Advance Excel skills
- Working knowledge of English & Italian
- Fruit Industry knowledge would be helpful
