Responsibilities:
St. Joseph’s Biomedical Engineering Department supports all of the Dignity Health Arizona hospitals, clinics, and Joint Ventures. Over 21,000 medical devices are managed by our staff of biomedical specialists, who are trained in modalities as diverse as imaging devices, patient monitoring systems, surgical instrumentation, lasers, laboratory analyzers, smart pumps, and all other devices used for treatment and diagnosis. We are seeking a BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST I to join our team in our BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT! A biomedical equipment technician at the entry level or junior level. A technician is highly motivated to learn biomedical equipment, applications, maintenance, and repair. Direct supervision.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assists in the evaluation of new equipment for purchase consideration, develops bid specifications, coordinates vendor demonstrations, and collects user feedback and attends equipment selection committee meetings
- Oversees repairs to ensure compliance with hospital regulatory codes and manufacturer specifications. Coordinates equipment repairs with outside contractors. Obtains repairs at the lowest possible cost while maintaining the highest quality. Verifies that equipment can be returned to service.
- When applicable, determines parts needed and orders them from alternative sources, researches cost and availability through second source alternatives, and ensures that an inventory is maintained of the most common, frequently replaced components
- Investigates equipment related incidents. Assuring the safety of patients is her top priority. Analyzes, recommends, and implements corrective actions
- Tests, diagnoses, and repairs medical equipment: Consults with vendors (part suppliers, technical advisors) to schedule repair periods, follows manufacturer's recommendations, applies test equipment effectively, and notifies manager or end user of long periods of downtime.

Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Three (3) years related experience and/or training in the field or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
- MINIMAL KNOWLEDGE of biomedical equipment. HS/GED required.
- Currently pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree in Biomedical, Electronic or Electrical Engineering or Technology, or related field or equivalent preferred.
