Shifamed portfolio of companies is expanding, and we are looking for talented medical device engineers who enjoy fast-paced, innovative environments. Shifamed portfolio company Adona Medical is developing an electromechanical implant to treat heart failure.
Position Description:
We are currently looking for a hands-on Senior R&D Engineer with a balance of electrical and mechanical engineering skills and experience, who is proactive in their approach to problem solving, and is a collaborative team player.
Position Responsibilities:
- Mechanical, thermal, and electromagnetic analysis and testing of electromechanical medical devices.
- Test and troubleshoot PCBs on the bench.
- Analyzing data and preparing reports.
- Work in a light shop.
- Bench and design verification tests are developed and executed.
Skills & Hands-On Experience:
Required:
- Electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and DVMs are used.
- Hand soldering and wiring practices are familiar.
- Bench test system design and construction.
- Machine shop skills (manual lathe, mill, drill press, hand tools).
- At least 2nd year undergraduate level proficiency in physics and mathematics.
- Data analysis skills using Microsoft Excel.
- Some experience programming in Python, Matlab/Octave, LabView, or other high-level application language.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
Some experience with:
- SOLIDWORKS.
- Use Altium or another PCB layout program.
- Analog signals in electronic systems.
- Analyzing exploratory data.
- Experiment with design.
Education & Work Experience:
Required:
- BS in EE, ME, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline.
- Design and testing of FDA class III medical devices.
- Work experience of 5+ years, including academic lab experience.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in a technical discipline.
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
