- Manage software projects in an Agile environment as part of a multi-site team. Depending on the project needs and team size, may serve as a Product Owner for various workstreams.
- Ensure that the team is efficient, effective, and well-coordinated; sets goals and priorities; develops and tracks schedules; and delivers quality designs according to process.
- Assisting project teams to achieve maximum performance and efficiency.
- Implementing the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle, following FDA regulations as well as IEC 62304 for medical device software.
- Build strong relationships with engineering team members and estimate, plan, and execute SW development and testing tasks, taking into account priorities and dependencies.
- Mitigate risk points by anticipating them. Schedule, budget, and scope must be balanced while meeting safety and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and track dashboard metrics that can be used to report status to leadership, as well as to drive team accountability.
- Plan project meetings, document meeting minutes and key decisions, and track action items.
- Develop and manage the SW development process and necessary SW development tools with the help of technical leads. Develop, select, and implement tools and processes. Among these are assisting with Agile Software Development methods and optimising DevOps use and workflows.
- Become familiar with the Medtronic Cardiac Ablation Solutions product lines.
- Coordinate, track, proof, and finalize project documents with limited supervision.
- To meet overall team deadlines and milestones, maintain a flexible attitude, performing assigned work beyond the scope of a typical software program manager job description.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or technical field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Engineering and/or a regulated industry with project management experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
- Degree in computer science, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or other relevant technical discipline.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Administration (MBA).
- Experience with highly regulated and/or safety-critical systems is required (experience with medical devices is strongly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of software engineering management tools and processes, including project tracking and scheduling, document management, static analysis, SW unit testing, requirements verification, issue/bug tracking, configuration management, integration/release testing, etc.
- Structured product development: requirements-driven engineering, requirements documentation, rigorous verification, Failure Mode Analysis (FMEA), etc.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to influence leadership and team regarding issues impacting the business and its technical service and product strategies.
- Knowledge of Agile Software Development Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
- Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or certification for Agile roles such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, Scrum Developer, Coach, etc.
- Project management experience in the medical device industry.
- Working with embedded firmware and application software to develop, distribute, and support large electro-mechanical capital goods.
- With growing knowledge and experience in project management, experience as a SW or FW developer. Knowledge of technical software design concepts such as object-oriented programming, common design patterns, and test-driven development.
- Knowledge of common software development tools/platforms/languages (GIT, Azure DevOps/TFS, C#/.NET, C++, Embedded C, etc.).
- Experience with 21CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, and ISO 62304.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with excellent collaboration skills, engaging with technical and non-technical staff across multiple geographical R&D sites, as well as substantial remote/videoconference-based work.
