Amazon's core principles include customer obsession over competitor focus, passion for invention, operational excellence, and long-term thinking. Changing lives through technologies, products and services drives us forward. Our company embraces new ways of doing things, makes decisions quickly, and is not averse to failing. In addition to our scale and capabilities, we have the spirit and heart of a little company. As Amazonians, we develop new technologies on behalf of consumers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world, including Amazon Web Services and Alexa. Customer-centricity is our mission. The customer is at the center of all our actions, goals, programs, and innovations. Amazon also says it's always "Day 1." What do we mean by that? Taking smart, fast decisions, being nimble, innovating, and looking out for our customers remains our approach just as it was on Amazon's first day.
Description:
AWS lands more server capacity daily than was used to run the entirety of Amazon.com in the year 2004 when it was already a $7B/year business. The AWS supply chain needs to be optimized with new software and tools to handle this massive growth. As part of our new generation of supply chain management (AWS_SCM) services, we automate and optimize supply chain planning, budgeting, procurement, cataloging, inventory management, vendor management, and payments. All of these projects represent a rare opportunity to build systems from the ground up. As a member of a new organization within AWS, you will build large-scale distributed applications.
The Data Engineer on the AWS SCM execution teams will design and architect a data system that can scale to support a range of business requirements. Execution teams are responsible for supply chain execution, which includes planning, ordering, shipping, vendor management, production schedule management, and inventory planning. DEs in this role would be able to provide execution-related data to customers and assist leadership and product in validating various hypotheses with data. Business processes are improved, data extraction skills are leveraged to engineer reporting mechanisms, and supply chain execution is improved. Effective communication needs to be demonstrated across a wide range of technical and nontechnical teams, and across different regions. Members of this team collaborate effectively to solve problems, implement new solutions, and deliver successfully according to high operational standards.
Data mining and model building skills are essential, as well as experience facilitating ideation and executing on concept. The role will also build the tools and support structures needed to analyze data. You will develop the data architecture components that scale for the ever-evolving data needs in this team as a Data Engineer. Big data warehousing problems will be solved on a massive scale for you. Using AWS services, you will solve challenging problems related to big data processing, data warehouse design, and enabling self-service. You will be responsible for automating and optimizing all aspects of DW/ETL maintenance and deployment. You will work closely with business intelligence engineers and software development teams on several non-standard and unique business problems, and use your creative problem-solving skills to deliver actionable results.
