Job Description:

Overview:

Under supervision of Telecommunication Projects Supervisor and/or Communications O&M Supervisor, the Telecommunications Technician Lead will direct the work of others and ensure tasks are completed per industry standard and within Company policies. The Lead will design, install, troubleshoot and maintain company telecommunication systems and adjunct equipment. Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the concepts and procedures associated with best practices in the telecommunication field and provide training on telecommunication equipment and systems.

Responsibilities:

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.
  • Provide supervision for the junior telecom technicians and give guidance while working in the field.
  • Assures that team members are aware of their responsibilities and provide communication support to the COR and local customer.
  • Oversees the daily operations of work assignments for outside plant and inside plant personnel.
  • Resolve or troubleshoot problems that may arise with any installation.
  • To isolate, identify, analyze equipment trouble and take appropriate maintenance action using a variety of test equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies affecting all communication systems.
  • Understanding of flow charts, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Customer service skills must be excellent.
  • Make sure all safety regulations and rules are followed by the team.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:
  • One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if a degree is required.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret Clearance
  • Have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a U.S. passport. A U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License, as well as a driver's license from the host country, is required.
  • You must have a valid driver's license and be able to Operator's license for motor vehicles issued by the Kuwaiti government and a Kuwaiti driver's license for heavy vehicles. Duty Driver’s License.
Experience:
  • Experience as a Telecommunications Technician, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, splicing, terminating, and conducting site surveys
  • Three to five years' experience with power tools and other testing equipment
  • An understanding of communication drawings and diagrams with 3-5 years of experience
Skills:
  • Must possess a professional demeanor; work effectively with all levels of employees, including top, middle and other supervisory levels of military and civilian management; customer service training; must have the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment; collaborative work style that will foster cooperation and teamwork; work independently with little or no supervision.; possess high-level organizational and planning skills, possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook at an advanced level.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex telecom issues/problems
  • Understanding of the communication installation process is essential
  • Good listening, verbal and written presentation skills are required
  • Must be able to effectively communicate technical information in English, both written and oral.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Will lead a team of approximately 8-15

Working Conditions:
  • Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
Physical Requirements:
  • Work is light. Moving objects with up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously.
  • Work may include heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time, as well as exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
  • In some situations, employees are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). A comprehensive set of PPE includes protective devices that protect the head, feet, upper body, respiratory system, eyes, and ears.
