UC Davis Children's Hospital surgeons used Magic Leap technology to help plan for the separation of rare, craniopagus twin babies. Mixed Reality Viewer from Brainlab was used to view 3D reconstructions of MRI and CT scans on the Magic Leap 1 headset.
Job Description:
- Process biological (ECG, EEG, EMG, metabolics) and biomechanical signals (motion capture and force platforms) for algorithm development, validation and verification.
- Be aware of current developments in biomedical sensor technologies and physiological signal processing, and explore ways to apply promising technologies within a spatial computing paradigm.
- Implement data collection and analysis mechanisms and protocols for data processing and data storage.
- Managing internal testing storage mechanisms for validation data.
- Providing assistance with the design, writing, and publication of research papers and white papers detailing new methodologies.
- Develop innovative ideas and concepts, and provide technical expertise and documentation for patent applications.
Requirements
- 3+ years of industry experience as a biomedical researcher, biomedical algorithm developer, or data scientist
- Experience developing biomedical algorithms for health / medical devices.
- Coding and debugging experience, preferably with Python and MATLAB.
- Research capabilities in biomedical sensors and physiological signals are required.
- Strongly preferred is experience with the application of biomedical research to spatial computing, augmented reality, or virtual reality.
- An understanding of ECG, EEG, EMG, HR, respiration, and metabolic signals.
- Experience with 3D motion capture (Vicon or similar) data capture methods
- Developing test protocols for the measurement and monitoring of health and medical applications is a plus.
- Proven ability to draw the right conclusions from data.
- Strong experience with software practices such as source control, testing, and code review. Git knowledge is highly desirable.
- A MS or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Physiology, or a related field is required.
