A Danaher research and development center, IDC aims to accelerate product roadmaps across various business segments. This facility, which was opened in 2014, currently houses 500+ associates from multiple Danaher operating companies, specializing in Diagnostics, Life Science, and Environmental and Applied Science. These companies include Beckman Coulter, Radiometer, Danaher Digital, Hach, Leica Microsystems, HemoCue, Videojet, and Cepheid.
A team of product engineers at IDC develops software and hardware components of cutting-edge products for Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular Diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery, and Water Quality. Cloud and data analytics have emerged as IDC's core competencies, with significant contributions to key informatics solutions. Team members include highly skilled software & hardware engineers, as well as development managers. Teams are supported by local Product managers, the Quality & Regulatory teams, and the Intellectual Property team.
They work closely with other global R&D centers in the US, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Denmark, and Sweden. IDC is located in a state of the art facility measuring 120K square feet in the heart of the Bangalore IT Hub.

Position Description:

The Engineering Manager will be based at our India Development Centre in Bangalore and will develop a Vulnerability Management competence team to enable/support Vulnerability Management processes for Leica Bio systems in accordance with agreed key performance objectives. In addition to defining strategy/standard work to maintain the security of deployed LBS products, an important responsibility would be to validate and release vendor-supplied security patches for off-the-shelf (OTS) software within the support lifetime of the product. This role will be responsible for leading a team of Verification engineers/leads (Manual/Automation) to deliver consistent and timely software patches to product teams/customers according to Agile and Scrum development methodologies. The role will include building competence in verification.

As a member of the LBS IDC team, your responsibilities will include:
  • Enable seamless execution of four pillars “Patching Common OTS Operating Systems, Patching other OTS software, Vulnerability Identification, Anti-malware “intelligence” updates” compliant with the Danaher Product Privacy and Security by Design policy and LBS Quality Management System (QMS), applicable regulations and standards.
  • Manages the hiring, development, performance, competence management, and engagement of current and future Verification Engineers. Must be a hands-on leader who places the needs of others first
  • Ensures products in development are tested against vulnerability requirements, are safe for users and patients, and are thoughtfully evaluated for risks and issues in collaboration with Test leads, Systems Engineers, and Architects.
  • The general responsibility for developing test procedures and methods for patch testing (OS, OTS)
  • Responsible for developing test plans, schedules, allocating resources, and prioritizing activities and ensures that patches, tests, gap analyses, and data reviews are conducted on time.
  • Establishes process/plans for ensuring timely execution of the verification strategy
  • Tests hardware and system performance in accordance with Design Input Requirements by developing and executing conventional and sophisticated test methods
  • Plan and execute experiments using niche test equipment in an independent environment cross-disciplinary environment
  • Coordinates and supports multi-disciplinary teams in their efforts to solve problems
  • Review current testing and verification practices in order to optimize them in accordance with the value of continuous improvement
  • Communicates effectively across functions and collaborates with teams and engineering managers to find solutions that meet timelines
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
  • Graduate or post-graduate qualifications in Computer Science or Software Engineering or biomedical engineering (or equivalent qualification).
  • An organization that managed a verification team for at least five years must have 12+ years of experience in total.
  • Preference would be given to candidates with healthcare experience
  • Verification engineer experience (automation and manual testers) of 2+ years
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with verification, preferably automating
  • Extensive experience with agile methodologies.
  • Multi-site and multi-geography teamwork capability.
  • Worked with functional and nonfunctional requirements
  • Ability to solve problems with a strong focus on quality, while maintaining a sense of technical pragmatism
  • Ability to communicate well in English, both in writing and verbally
  • An exceptional time manager and organizer, with attention to detail, self-motivation, and creativity.
Highly Desirable:
  • Experience working in Vulnerability Management Teams – Patch Management, Pen testing
  • Experience working on medical devices/ applications
  • Experience in CI/CD
