Responsibility:
Knowledge Transition:
Reviewing documents (functional specifications, technical specifications, etc) that have been provided by the client or onsite, you will be able to understand and evaluate the business requirements.
To understand the requirements, participate in Knowledge Transfer calls.
Reverse KT can be done with the client/onsite or sharing the document explaining the requirement or application/domain knowledge can be done to ensure understanding.
Track queries by preparing and sharing query logs (trackers).
Maintain a query log that documents the resolution of queries.
New team members should participate in KT sessions.
Providing training for tools (like ETL tools etc.) as appropriate.
Clients should sign off on the project.
Test Requirement Study:
Identify the gaps in the requirements as part of the requirement walkthrough conducted by the Sr Test Analyst. If necessary, seek clarification from the Test Architect on the requirements.
Please clarify requirements and update the clarification tracker accordingly.
Preliminary data requirements for testing should be identified.
Assess the scope of testing and estimate the amount of effort needed to complete this work for the test lead/sr test analyst. Analyzing the requirements, defining the test approach, etc.
Test Planning:
The service is available for selected projects (small and simple sized projects that require two offshore team members to successfully complete the assignment).
Create the test plan based on understanding the test strategy (detailing the project details, the items that are within scope, the items that are not within scope, the type of testing, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and entry/exit criteria) for each cycle.
You should seek client approval for your test plan.
Test plan creation requires inputs such as the number of test scenarios and test cases used for estimation of the test cycles / schedule, dependencies, etc, as well as other dependencies from various teams, such as environment availability and third party interfaces.
Assist the test analyst/test lead with evaluation of test tools if required.
Test Design:
Create a test scenario document that identifies testable scenarios.
Query log tracks resolutions.
Have the senior test analyst / offshore test leader review the test.
Test scenarios should be added to the requirements traceability matrix.
Obtain client approval for testing scenarios.
Test data and test cases are outlined, based on the sign off.
Analyze the requirements and match them with the test cases and scenarios in Quality Control.
Inform the team responsible for managing test data of your test data requests.
Test Development:
Identify test data based on test scenarios that have been approved.
Establish test cases to ensure you understand the requirements and ensure the testing is covered.
Make sure development processes and rules are followed if Quality Centre is used (Test Management Tool).
In Excel, the test cases are written so that they are easy to upload to Quality Center for reuse.
Assemble a test case and a test data Query log for a test case if applicable.
Based on the effect of the change, modify the regression scenarios.
Test Execution and Closure:
Test the system for readiness by performing smoke tests.
Scripts for automation testing or manual testing should be executed.
Test evidence and execution statuses are recorded and maintained.
The senior tester should be informed of the findings.
Defects should be identified and logged.
Follow up on defects (as generated by the quality control tool).
Conduct periodic defect triage exercises for the purpose of identifying defects, prioritizing them and fixing them.
Update the defect status after retesting.
Acceptance testing should be conducted, if necessary.
QC should be tracking defect metrics to make sure tests are effective.
Maintain a daily tracker of the number of test cases implemented.
Support deployments and post-productions as needed.
Determine which test suite needs to be executed.
Prepare a test summary report for the Senior Test Analyst.
Audit:
Participate in various audits to ensure compliance with Cognizant procedures and guidelines throughout the project.
Knowledge Management:
Work with project/client needs to create/update WIKI knowledge repositories and artefacts, including business and application level requirements.
