After seeing the overwhelming response through your likes, comments, and messages to my previous post. I feel it is highly essential to share a few tips that helped me get a good score. This may help a lot of IELTS aspirants as well.
Please Note:- I'm not here to promote any organization or institute. This is purely my personal opinion.
Preparation Strategy
I would recommend every IELTS aspirant to study Cambridge material thoroughly before taking up other material. The link is provided below. This has 14 books consisting of Academic and general training. Each book has 4 test means you have 56 mock test. Prepare this first.
Listening
People aiming for 8 band in listening should get 35+ correct answers, meaning you should get maximum score in the 1st and 2nd section. Would recommend following Cambridge study material.
Reading
I practiced all the Cambridge test and followed Parwindhar and Asad Yaqub strategies on TFNG/ matching headings (Not necessary that you should also follow the same). The links are here
Writing
Most of the people struggle in this section. Writing task-2 has 5 types of questions
i) Opinion based
ii) Discuss both the views
iii) Problem, causes & solutions
iv) Advantages & disadvantages
v) Double question
I thoroughly followed Jay & Chris Pell Videos on Youtube(I'm not promoting them). I
practiced 1 type for 2 days to get perfection. These two helped me in getting the correct essay structure(Coherence & cohesive) more important than your fancy vocabulary.
Use latest Makkar's material for Essay questions
Task-1. Formal & Informal essay takes 1 or 2 days to complete.
Speaking
I never had any challenge in the speaking section. But, I would recommend people to join some speaking WhatsApp groups. Since I'm not an admin I can't add anyone. I notice a lot of people that liked my posts & struggling with speaking. Why don't you guys create a group for yourself?
Prepared cue cards from Makkar's Study material.
Tips
1 month of hard work of 4-5 hours every day will definitely give you a fruitful result.
There are few online essay evaluation services, few are trustworthy & charge a minimum amount. I would recommend getting your essay evaluated before you actually apply for the test, as the IELTS test is an expensive one, please be cautious before applying.
Follow Asad Yaqub(Not promoting) youtube videos to get to know about review of recent IELTS test.
Finally. I'm fortunate enough to get a few friends in the process of IELTS preparation. Though I interacted with them through phone/facebook, we studied as per a plan. There are lot of people seeking help for IELTS preparation, would recommend creating self-help groups. Please don't get into personal details with strangers.
