Summary
Siemens Healthineers is seeking a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Intern to join its Manufacturing Engineering team in summer 2022. Candidate must have knowledge or experience with developing and improving manufacturing processes with a strong focus on product quality and full FDA compliance. Our company is large and diverse, and potential candidates should have experience working with cross-functional teams and acting as a technical leader. A member of our team should be passionate about manufacturing, put forth quality work, and focus on reducing costs and continuously improving.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes to increase quality and reduce costs in compliance with FDA regulations.
- Ensure on-time product shipments by analyzing workflow, material flow, and space requirements.
- Ensure efficient movement of people and materials by designing and implementing a factory layout and office layout
- Develop and maintain labor standards based on time studies, estimates, and historical data.
- Create & maintain accurate product Bills of Materials & Routings.
- Work closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and provide technical training for employees.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing personnel to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.
- Improve manufacturing processes by designing fixtures and tooling.
- Conducts time studies as necessary to ensure accurate reporting of production labor hours in order to track accurate product costs.
- Implement and maintaining lean manufacturing techniques such as Kanban, Kaizen & 5S.
- Approve applicable engineering specifications and drawings for manufacturing feasibility.
- Supporting company policy and procedures, goals and objectives, FDA regulations, and good manufacturing practices.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Currently pursuing an Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Biomedical Engineering, or an MBA.
- A GPA of at least 3.2 is required
- Must be comfortable working onsite while adhering to company-mandated COVID-19 protocol, as well as be comfortable working in a fully virtual environment if necessary.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills.
- Exhibits communication skills needed to bridge gaps between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Possesses the ability to manage change in rapidly changing environments.
- Skills in project management, including coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to work as part of an integrated team or independently.
- ERP experience (SAP Preferred).
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Proficiency in Siemens NX, Solidworks or equivalent software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio.
- Programming experience or advanced Excel skills (VBA, macros, etc).
