- Establishes and maintains a process for assessing and identifying new design challenges as they arise in order to drive continuous improvement of quality systems to meet 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485 and EN requirements.
- By communicating, training, and educating solid quality assurance principles, ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices.
- Carry out assigned quality assurance tasks in development projects as a member of the team.
- Assists in developing relevant and innovative products by understanding customer processes and needs.
- Supports project leaders in achieving project objectives using Design for Cost and Design for Manufacturability methods.
- Coordinates, plans, and reviews cross-functionally.
- Plan / report on risk management for products under design authority.
- Statistical methods are promoted for quality control and testing. The process of product development is supported by Six Sigma.
- Mentors associates in technical roles related to his expertise. Give frequent feedback and direction on technical matters. Help them succeed by participating and assisting them.
- Assembles and maintains the Design History File (DHF).
- Ensures plant quality issues are addressed.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Understanding of design control, disciplined product development processes, and regulatory and quality requirements.
- Work experience with medical device regulations (ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, etc.).
- Detailed knowledge of quality assurance principles and concepts, total quality tools, and continual improvement approaches, as well as industry practices and standards.
- The ability to apply Six Sigma methodologies and statistical methods in an advanced way.
- Transforming customer needs into design specifications and inputs.
- Good knowledge of the quality management process and continuous improvement practices.
- Technical writing and project management expertise.
- Ability to think critically, analyze, and solve problems.
- Achieve strategic and operational objectives simultaneously by prioritizing and multitasking various forms of work input.
- Master’s degree in related engineering discipline.
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt and/or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
- Expertise in the area of improvement tools for engineering performance (such as Voice of the Customer, Statistics, Design of Experiments, and Problem Solving).
