Summary:
Role Number:200193055
Key Qualifications:
- Internships, co-ops, or project work in computer architecture, logic design, VLSI design, or circuit design
- Collaboration skills across a wide variety of functional areas, as well as a strong teamwork capability
- Knowledge of C/C++, Verilog, VHDL, Python, Perl, and/or Spice is advantageous
- Studying computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field as an undergraduate or graduate student
- A minimum Bachelor's degree will be earned by August 2021
RTL Design: It will require you to verify and bring up new mixed-signal circuits in the lab. Applied knowledge of chip architecture/microarchitecture, front end pre-silicon design flow, RTL design/coding, logic design, Verilog/System Verilog, low power design, timing/power/performance analysis, C/C++
Design Verification: You will design the first silicon that is fully functional through Design Verification. Experience with chip architecture, RTL design verification, System Verilog or UVM/OVM/VMM, block/chip/core test benches, System Verilog Assertion (SVA), C/C++/assembly, Perl/Python
Physical Design: In Physical Design, you will be at the center of design effort collaborating with architecture, CAD, timing and logic design teams, with a critical impact on delivering best in class designs Knowledge of basic chip architecture, back end chip design flow, physical synthesis, floor-planning, place and route (PnR), power grid, timing (STA), physical design verification (DRC/LVS), EMIR (Redhawk/Totem/Voltus)
Modeling/Performance Engineer: As a student, you will be focused on writing code for GPU, CPU, SoC and other models of infrastructure. Programming in C++ and SystemC; Python modeling for verification of hardware, workloads, and correlation. Develop, architect, design, implement, and deploy chip models utilizing RTL and verification.
CAD Engineer: The chip level design methodology and flow will be developed and supported by you. All chip delivery nodes will be accessible to you, and you can participate in multiple projects. Should be well-versed in programming CAD flow and algorithms. The goal of the project is to find solutions to some of the most significant design problems in collaboration with VLSI design and CAD teams, and EDA vendors. Ability to analyze, communicate, and lead effectively.
Signal Integrity/RF Engineer: Working in RF Integrity, you'll collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on the development of Apple's mobile devices. In specific, the responsibilities include designing novel methodology to solve complex coupling issues, solving problems affecting multiple radios on ICs, packages, and systems, and implementing topologies to integrate RF design and system.Preferably, you should have previous experience with RF circuit design and electromagnetic modeling.
Embedded Engineer: Embedded Software Engineers make up a significant part of Silicon Validation and Productization teams. Software is developed, ported, released, maintained, and enhanced by our embedded engineers to enable a large scale test of Apple's SoCs. These engineers will integrate existing test software between environments, enhance test software to exercise functional blocks, develop Linux device drivers and user-land tests, implement device libraries to aid in the portability of device drivers, bring up low-level code on new SoCs and develop our own SMP RTOS. We have several types of embedded software engineers that focus on various aspects of the chip including feature validation (video, audio, display, etc.), IP validation, performance testing, micro-controller code, and low-level software. During the design validation phase and downstream during production in the factory, engineers work in bare-metal, RTOS, and/or Linux environments to write software that runs on every Apple So C. The main languages of coding (with some ARM Assembly) and scripting are C/C++ and Python.
Power/Battery Engineer: Towards bringing innovation to the industry by bringing electronic circuit design/development experience for microcontroller-based systems, you will be in this role at the forefront of development. The ability to communicate between modules (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.) as well as experience using embedded systems. Ideally, you would have experience working with batteries, power supplies, medical electronics, or automotive electronics.
Analog/Mixed Signal Engineer: With a working knowledge of mixed signal (AMS) analog circuits such as SRDs, PLLs & data converters, you will collaborate closely with multi-functional teams. AMS hardware circuit design experience, including bandages, biasing circuits, LDO regulators, amplifiers, comparator circuits, switched capacitor circuits, ADCs, DACs, oscillators, filters. Analog IC design knowledge related to device physics.
IC Packaging Engineer: A variety of projects including SoCs will require you to develop advanced packaging technologies. Familiarity with the fundamentals of Signal and Power Integrity as well as Cadence ADP/SIP. In addition to design verification and taping out, you'll handle package/SIP layout, optimization, and optimization.
Silicon Validation: You will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of hardware and software to perform silicon bring-up and system level validation of Apple's SOCs as an embedded software engineer, high-speed board designer, or debug/triage engineer. The test software teams build automated test environments, debug tools, and PCB boards to push the limits of functional blocks so we can identify the causes for failures in the silicon, fix them, and optimize performance and efficiency before we manufacture millions of units. An understanding of chip architecture and design, C programming/C++ assembly, Python/Perl/Tcl, and silicon bring-up.
Platform Engineer: You will perform emulation on the yet-to-be-built chips with the primary objective of debugging them on FPGAs or emulating models on emulators. Experience in chip architecture and design, industry standard interfaces, FPGA tool flow, Verilog, C++, Python, Perl, and Tcl.
