Job Purpose:

The Senior/R&D Engineer will be a key contributor on a R&D team within BD Greater Asia R&D, executing all aspects of product development projects over the complete product life cycle (inception through development, high volume manufacturing, post launch and commercialization)

Job Responsibilities:
  • Contributes as a team member on development projects carrying out assigned responsibilities in a timely, diligent, safe, and professional manner. May act as a R&D core team member.
  • Leads the design and development of new product and product engineering through design control process, with well-documented research/analyses and applies engineering best practices and tools.
  • Leads product design verification and validation to satisfy product and customer requirement.
  • Conducts user/ergonomic studies with clinical professionals during the product development process in pursuit of user-based product design excellence.
  • Supports the development of products through knowledge of the clinical and physical performance requirements.
  • Ensures quality in product’s design for usability, reliability, function-ability, marketability and manufacturability.
  • Ensures proper design and development documentation as per ISO 13485/FDA QSR Quality System. Creates new SOPs and maintains all relevant SOPs to ensure strict compliance of R&D functional operation with ISO 13485/FDA QSR Quality System.
  • Performs any other related tasks as assigned.
Our Requirements:
  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, ideally major in mechanical or mechatronic related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years’ proven product development experience in medical device industry
  • Ability to manage projects, preferably with PMP credentials
  • Preferably with certification in Six Sigma and/or DFSS​
Skills:
  • Sound knowledge of engineering first principles.
  • Strong project management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills to work within deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and/or mapping out multiple parallel workflows.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Focused phase-gate product development processes & project planning.
  • Knowledge and experience in the design and development of smart medical devices
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) practices, and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.
  • Knowledge of medical device regulations and practices (ISO 13485, FDA QSR, etc.).
