Job summary
Amazon is looking for a project engineer with industry experience who can design, develop, and enhance our delivery stations. Successful candidates are natural self-starters with prior engineering experience in the development, design, implementation, enhancement, and support of integrated automation projects. This person should have direct experience managing the execution of big capital automation projects with a budget of less than $5 million and aggressive timeline commitments. Our Project Engineers must be agile with the ability to quickly adapt strategies, plans and solutions in response to dynamic business requirements. They also must be comfortable interfacing and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, build, improve, and innovate in our Delivery stations throughout the large-scale supply chain network:
- Manage, plan, and implement medium-scale integrated automation projects including several conveyors, packaging lines, and/or processing modules.
- The average cost of a project installation ranges from less than $1 million to more than $5 million.
- Manage on-site vendors through their leads, and escalate issues to Amazon leadership and the vendor.
- Evaluate design difficulties and make recommendations for practical solutions.
- Determine and explain the need for design enhancements.
- With vendors or subcontractors, keep an eye on project schedules and quality.
- Lead and manage design and execution efforts involving equipment specifications, material flow, process design, and site layout with internal teams and outside vendors.
- RFPs, change order controls, purchase orders, and invoicing are just a few of the budget and contract papers that need to be developed and managed.
- Lead system commissioning and predefined testing activities, including administering the plan, interpreting statuses and reporting results.
- Coordinate with local site management to ensure proper operator training, procedural compliance, maintenance and safety practices are followed for new and existing equipment.
- Thoroughly document/investigate Delivery station change requests and provide recommendations.
- Build strong working relationships with Delivery stations leadership and their operations teams across multiple sites as well as their Launch, Facilities, Finance, Safety and Process Engineers business stakeholders.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives in support of operations teams within the node.
- Support Kaizen events and occasionally participate when appropriate.
- General knowledge of Delivery stations operations with understanding of day to day workings and strategic FC / Network planning.
- Perform and direct data mining and analyze the results to provide recommendations or conclusions.
- Inspect facilities in accordance with corporate standards and procedures relating to material handling, processing and storage.
- Develop cross-functional knowledge of Start-Up team systems, processes, procedures and tools.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Operations, Automation, Conveyors, Design, Business Administration, or a related field; or two plus (+2) years of Amazon and/or related work experience.
- 2- 3 years of experience as a project engineer, process engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer, or other relevant job.
- Directly controlled and accountable for a total of less than $5 million in automation project budgets.
- Large-scale industrial engineering projects require proven technical leadership.
- Integrated automation solutions, such as complicated material handling systems, high-speed packing lines, and manufacturing lines, have been demonstrated in design and/or execution.
- Excel, Project, and Outlook are all Microsoft Office products that I am proficient in.
- Highly proficient CAD skills; capable of building an integrated automation layout autonomously.
- Ability to travel up to 75% of time to installation sites throughout UAE.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering ,Operations, Design
- Exposure to Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation/logistics
